Scrapbook Chicks July Projects

It's been a crazy week here between doctors and dogs and just all around things to do! However, I hope to be back to my regular version of crazy & chaos this week! :) I've been diligently working on cleaning up our house. I have purged more junk - really, where does this stuff come from? But, I'm happy that now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (more like a glimmer, but you get it). There hasn't been much scrapping here this week, but I did want to take a moment and share my July projects from Scrapbook Chicks. So here you go... enjoy!

I got to work with the Walk in the Park kit this month! It's totally cute with the new Echo Park Paper and all the fun bright colors. :) I love that they work for boys and girls - that's the best part! The papers are great and you get some stickers and added embellies in the kit from Two Chicks Designs. The kit really is fun and works great for summer pics!

Scrapbook Chicks - Kelly's June Page Kit

Scrapbook Chicks created a smaller page kit for some of their designers this month. I loved getting some of the Fancy Pants "My Family" line in my kit! Be sure to check out my page kit at the scrapbook chicks store.

Here are the fun things I created with it, and I still have lots of pieces left over to work with! Don't forget you can click on the image to see a larger picture.

Dirty Truth (Dirty Scraps Challenge)

The challenge at Dirty Scraps this time around is "The Facts of Life". Well, I've got lots of facts about me, so I thought I would share just a few (yes, there are more, LOL).

Supplies:
Scenic Route Papers
RP Alpha Stickers
Pink Paislee Journaling Spot
DCWV Cardstock
Making Memories Metal & Brad
Two Chicks Designs Chick'n Noodles & Chick'n Feed
Embroidery Floss
Flourish - unknown

Journaling:
I am not perfect. I am overweight, I can be grumpy. I cuss, I get angry. I will tell you when I think there are better ways to do things. Despite my faults, I am true to myself & those whom I love.

Here is a close-up of the Donna Salazar style flower. I wound ribbon up and then put a ribbon flower & brad in the very center.

Scrappy Saturday

I've had this Donna Salazar Trunk in the Attic paper sitting on my table for a couple weeks now (I won in a facebook fan giveaway). I wanted to use it with some vintage pictures from my mother, but my printer is not cooperating today - so, I went with something I already had printed. This is a picture of my dog Gypsie, who I rescued when I was around 16. She has since left us, but she still has my heart... and her colors were perfect for this paper line.

Anyway - another cool thing about this layout is the little wood circles. I picked those up at walmart yesterday (right next to the cork). I really like them, they are gonna be showing up on lots of my projects in the future! Be sure to check out the close-up pics for better views of them.

Supplies:
Helmar Adhesive Runner & 450 Adhesive
Wooden Circles

Cute (quick & easy) Cork Board!

I got this idea from a friend of mine who has a larger scale of this in her kitchen. I absolutely love it and even better, it takes very little time and effort!!

So I've been collecting wine corks for awhile wanting to do something cool with them, but apparently I don't drink enough wine cause I didn't have a very good collection. Anyway - while I was at walmart today, I spotted bags of corks. Seriously? Could I complete my project? I immediately knew what I would be doing this evening! So I snagged all they had, along with a couple other cool things I found (note to self: check that aisle more often) and headed home.

Grab your supplies:
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
Corks
Ribbon & Embellishments (if desired)
Xacto Knife (possibly)

Now, let the fun begin...

1. Position corks to achieve your desired shape. You can do more than just a square - think of items in your house that you could use as a template (clock, cups, plates, etc). You may need to trim a few pieces to get everything to line up properly. The xacto cuts through cork like butter, especially with a fresh blade - so be careful!

2. Glue pieces together and allow to completely dry.

3. Embellish as desired! I used items from Two Chicks Designs - Chick'n Noodles, Chick'n Feed & Chick'n Feathers.

Here is my finished project. Super easy, and had I not stopped to eat dinner, I would have been done in less than an hour. Now I have a cute little hanging cork board for my scrap area to post little reminders to myself!

This has more possibilities than just your basic cork board. Here are some other ideas spinning in my head:

  • a shaped board for a child's room
  • recipe board for your kitchen
  • table top (you'll never have another watermark)
  • basket
  • coasters
  • picture frame
  • trivet
  • I would love to see if you create something along these lines - so definitely come back and share!!

    Two Chicks Chick'n Scratches!

Two Chicks Designs has brought back the chick'n scratches (sketch)!! They are listed on the facebook fan page. Be sure to check it out, it's a great sketch and there's even a great prize!!

Here's my rendering of it.. I took the two pager and transformed it into one (my pics are 2 x 3"). I used the april kit from Scrapbook Chicks (except the large alphabet stickers, those are momenta), which worked perfectly for these spring pictures! This kit is awesome, from the fun papers to the super cool corrugated alpha - there's not a thing in it you won't love.

Be sure to check out the Chick'n Coop Blog for all kinds of awesome inspiration using the monthly kits!

I'm also super happy to say that I used helmar adhesive (my new runner & the 450 quick dry) to create this page!

    Two Chicks April Kit

Just wanted to share some projects done with the April kit from Two Chicks Designs...

While you are at the store picking up a kit (cause I know you will seriously want this, it's so much fun)... check out their awesome chick'n goodies. They totally rock!! For those of you who don't know about Two Chicks, they are a wholesaler of embellishments and fun t-shirts ... cause who wants to be drab when you can spruce it up a bit? (okay, maybe *I* shouldn't ask that question as I sit here in my hershey kiss pj pants). But, regardless of how I look - you want to look cute and what better way than to wear a t-shirt emphasizing your favorite passtime?

So, on to the April kit... it's super cute with all kinds of fun stuff in there! And here are some of the projects I've done with it (and I still have a ton left to use, so be on the lookout for more).
